The Jones County Extension and Outreach office is looking to hire a temporary summer internship position starting in May and ending in August. POSITION: ISU Extension & Outreach Summer Program Intern Jones County Extension and Outreach Office, Monticello, Iowa POSITION May to August 2020 AVAILABLE: (some flexibility with starting and ending dates) TERMS OF Temporary Summer Position EMPLOYMENT: Maximum40 hours/week some weeks will be around 30 hours Monday – Friday (some evening/weekend work required) Salary $10/hour Mileage reimbursement, will be at the current Jones County Extension Rate JOB 1. Assist with and provide support for the organization/operation of county 4-H/Youth summer DESCRIPTION: activities and events, including, but not limited to: 4-H communications event; 4-H clothing event; county fair 4-H/FFA F.A.S.T. and livestock events; 4-H Jr. Camp and Summer Discovery Camp. 2. Be readily available to assist with 4-H/FFA and other youth programming during the Great Jones County Fair (July 20-26, 2020). 3. Take lead on the packing, data entry, event logistics, media reporting for designated county fair shows/events. 4. Assist with the planning, preparation and facilitation of other summer youth educational programs throughout Jones County. 5. Supervise children in activities/programs and ensure their safety. 6. Assist as needed with regular office duties; including paperwork, data entry, customer service and answering phones. 7. Assist with leadership and training for youth and volunteers. 8. Attend in-service training(s) when necessary. 9. Submit records of program participation/evaluation; submit timesheet and travel reimbursement, etc. as required to Supervisor. 10. Maintain regular contact with county Extension and Outreach staff. 11. Perform other duties as assigned under supervision, as required for successful operation. QUALIFICATION: 1. High school diploma. Education beyond preferred. 2. Knowledge of 4-H community club program preferred. 3. Ability to use computer for data entry and word processing. 3. Demonstrated interest and ability to work with youth. 4. Demonstrated responsibility and leadership skills. 5. Ability to communicate with youth, parents, and Extension professionals. 6.
