Every year, extra hours are built into the academic calendar over the 1,080 hours of instructional time required by the State of Iowa. With the recent accumulation of weather cancellations, instructional hours have fallen below the required 1,080 hours. Therefore,*** St. Patrick School will now utilize make-up day #1 and will have school on Thursday, May 25, 2023***.If more weather cancellations occur, the make-up of instructional hours will be utilized in the following order:
  1. Make-up day #2 on 5-26-23
  2. Early Release on 3-22-23
  3. Early Release on 4-26-23
If further weather days arise that go beyond making up the hours listed in #1 - 3 above, St. Patrick School students will have to come back after Memorial Day.

Parents and Guardians,
In an effort to streamline morning drop off and to eliminate students from running across the parking lot in the afternoon, we ask everyone to please follow the drop off and pick up instructions below beginning Monday, September 12. Please note that traffic should always move in one direction through the alley: East to West. This helps eliminate the blindspot of kids coming around the building as well as the small space of cars moving past each other.
Drop off times in the morning are from 7:55am - 8:10am. When dropping off in the morning, there will now be a drop off lane and a parking area:
  • If your child(ren) is able to let themselves out of the vehicle without assistance, please continue through the drop off lane and let students out at the drop point shown.
  • If the driver needs to get out of the vehicle to assist a child(ren), please park in a parking spot and do not sit in the drop off lane.
Afternoon pick up is at 3:00pm and 1:00pm on early dismissal days. When picking up in the afternoon, please find a parking spot in the lot, along the alley, or on the street. Please do not park in the pull-through lane to wait for your child. Please be courteous of those backing up from parking spots and keep a watchful eye for children walking to vehicles. We will have staff members kindly reminding everyone of the new pick up and drop off rules next week.
Thank you to everyone for helping make our parking lot safer for students!
God Bless,
Michael J. Volk, Principal
